Edinburgh place names examined in course
Edinburgh’s Telford College is holding a four week course about the origins and history of Edinburgh place names. Many of the place names in and around the capital come from Scots, such as Harlaw (‘misty hill’) and Threipmuir (a moor over which there has been legal disputation about ownership).
The course is on Wednesday evenings, 6.45 – 8.45 pm, and costs £55.
It runs from September 23 to October 14.
