Bible in the Shetland dialect

Author Charles Greig has produced a version of the Bible in the dialect of Shetland. Craig has taken 81 of the most popular stories from the Bible and translated them into Shetlandic. The book is also illustrated by the artist Smirk who is well known to islanders. The following little extract will give a taste of the book:

At da very start da God Man med da heevens an da aert. Da aert hed na shape tae it an dir wis naethin in it. Hit was joost a mass o watter happit aboot i da mirk. Da speerit o da God Man gied aboot apo da watter.
